Is Your Website Converting Your Traffic into Phone Calls and Form Requests?

Driving traffic from SEO, PPC and other Online Marketing Methods is really quite easy. Driving it effectively and affordably is another issue for another day.

The real question you MUST ask is, “Once the prospect lands on my website, will they be lead to taking the action that I want? Will they make a phone call for more information or fill out the online form to request more information?”

This is where most websites fail – miserably.

There are a few basic concepts that will aid in helping increase conversions on your website.

  • Phone Number Placements : Your contact information, mostly your phone number should be in 2-3 places on every page. At a minimum, at the top of the page, and at the bottom of the page.
  • Calls to Actions : Are there calls to action telling the prospect what to do next? Do you have text before your phone number that says, “Call today to save $$$” and such. Is there Ad Copy placed strategically throughout the website? Copy like, “No one offers a better price!”
  • Form Request On Every Page : For some industries, placing a form request on the top of every page is absolutely critical.
  • Client Testimonials : They should rotate on Every Single Page. Just having them on every page, near the middle or top of the page can make a huge difference in making the prospect feel more comfortable about taking the action.
  • Website Navigation : In the “old” days of the Internet, we had the 3 Click Rule – Can the prospect find everything they are looking for in less than 3 clicks? Today, that should be in one click most of the time. This requires that your page navigation has drop down or fly out menues to show pages below pages in the navigation structure.

These ideas are a very good start on increasing your website conversions.

Understanding The Buying Cycle

If you understand the buying cycle, then you will know where to focus your marketing dollars.

The Buying Cycle refers to the process that most people go through before they make a purchase.

  • Discovery : The person discovers a new product or concept that interests them. Example: Digital Cameras – you could not make a profit buying these keywords in Google PPC, but you could build SEO Content on your website targeting those keywords.
  • Research : Now they perform research to learn about their options. Example: Canon Digital Camera – you might be able to make a profit on PPC, but this is still best suited for SEO Content.
  • Buy : With all research accomplished, the person is now shopping to buy. Example: Canon Rebel Digital Camera – this is a perfect Long Tail Keyword to not only build SEO Content for, but to purchase on a Google PPC Campaign.

Long Tail Keywords are multiple keword phrases. The more keywords a person uses in a search on Google, the closer they are to making a purchase. When you build SEO Content based upon a few chosen keywords, you always want to include variations of those keywords in the content – synonyms, plurals, etc.. PPC Campaigns are also most profitable when you focus most of your attention on these keywords.

More Alternative Online Advertising That Works

Most people know how well Craigslist can work for their businesses. But few know about the “other” online classified services that can work as well.

After you build your ad and place it on Craigslist, there are other online classified websites that will not only drive traffic, leads and sales, they also provide a unique linking strategy.

Simply copy your ad and place on these other sites. The time involved is only 1 minutes for each.

Ebay Classifieds – Formerly known as Kijiji, Ebay purchased this as their alternative to Craigslist. Since that purchase, Google is ranking their listings rather high.

Oodle / Facebook Marketplace – I would suggest placing ads through their Facebook Marketplace rather than directly on Oodle. You have the advantage of exposing your products and services to the Facebook audience.

Backpage – Although not as much exposure, it offers the ability to auto renew for $1, and it works quite well for some niches.

I have a client that followed my advice to give Ebay Classifieds a try. He is averaging a sale every 2-3 weeks from all over the country – markets he could never have penetrated from his location in Dallas.

So give these ideas a try. It certainly wouldn’t take more than 15 minutes a week to list once on each. You never know, your next big client could come from a free advertising channel.

Weekly Online Marketing Tip!

This week’s tip is about Craigslist!

Many companies are experiencing success by marketing and advertising their services and products on Craigslist. It is FREE and their platform accepts HTML for beautiful, branded campaigns.

If you offer a service, then simply place your ad in the “Services” category. With a product, it would be placed in the “For Sale” category.

The Secret
Your ad must include the most important keywords in the title, and the copy should include every keyword possible that people would use to search for your product or service.

You have the ability to provide links to your website (with HTML coding) and the ad will stay live for 45 days.

Depending on your company’s niche, once a week could be enough to drive new leads and sales. If you are in an extremely competitive niche, you might need to create a bi-weekly or even daily campaign to be successful. But the real catch is —- Your ads must be different enough in their content so that their automated filters are not triggered and your ads are deleted. Craigslist does not want you to repost the same ad multiple times which would be considered spamming their platform. Therefore, it would be best to create ads that focus on different aspects of your service or different products.

At a minimum, a once a week campaign of 7 ads will allow you to repost each of the 7 ads over and over with minimum effort every 7 weeks when that ad expires.
